Dreams : Go down with the ship

This is one of my reoccurring dreams :

I in this old institution and  this dream occurs in golden amber or orange. I hear sirens going off and I wandering down a long hallway lined with old wooden doors from like a 1960’s college or hospital. The doors have the thick frosted glass windows and the wood looks worn and beat up. There is even a slot for mail at the bottom of this doors. I like them because they are well built. They still serve the purpose of a door. In between the doors are  lockers of a similar age. They are ugly and rusted. Speckled white and black linoleum tile covers the floor. People have walked on this ground for years so it is beat up looking.

The sirens are loud but I don’t seem to be trying to escape. Something bad is happening but I am ok with it. Definitely, I belong here. There is a chance that I am the cause of the sirens. Down the hallway I continue to walk. There is intersection where two hallways meet. As I approach firefighter flood down the intersection. They are like a swarm of bees. They are trying to clear everyone out of the building but i seem to be invisible to them. I watch some of the men kick open a door that leads upstairs.

After what seems like a couple of minutes the locomotion activities of the firefighters allows me visibility. The sound of the men trampling through the building almost muffled the sound of the siren that is going off. They were yelling orders and I heard one of the say the building is crumbling. We have to get everyone out of here. The last fireman scurried away  and down the hall  I could see one of the members of my grad class.

She doesn’t belong here and it becomes my job to lead her outs. There are no fireman around to escort her. I run and grab her hand and start looking for exits. Being completely aware that the walls are caving or crumbling as me feeling anxious and excitable. I am pulling her towards all the exits but they are locked . She is scared and frantic and that same feeling is consuming me. She is innocent and should not be involved in this.

I pull her to more doors but these doors are meant to work. They are sturdy heavy and locked tight. I hear a loud sound in the distance. The building is starting to fall. With a last ditch effort I run in the doorway which the firefighter used to go upstairs. There is also a  stairway leading downstairs and that is the direction I go. After running down a flight of stairs I see an exit door and look her and say you have to get out of here as if she didn’t already know. When I touch the handle of the door it turns and I push her out into this grassy field and she runs away looking back at me begging me to come. It is too late for me. The captain must go down with the ship. Without a word spoken I shut the door and the ground beneath me starts shake and concrete starts to fall.
