Memory Lane

The same thing i love about looking at old photographs is the same thing that I hate. I am putting together a thirty minute presentation about where my art comes from. How many CDs does it take to hold your life? Great photos that you have taken seem to bring color back to thoughts and moments that went grey a long time ago. When you look through your own personal stockpile of images you do have instant access to the imagery that attracts your eye. The thoughts that your photography triggers hold the truth about yourself and there is no getting away from the image.

What truth lies in the photographs I have taken concerning my art. For the most part my art revolves around my education, love of art history,  the  actual and imagined adventure from a male perspective, the people that have left pleasurable imprints on my heart, and the imprints that have turned to scars. My photography echoes the attempt to record the previous mentioned list through the use of icons and iconic moments.

When i take a photograph  I am not trying to make a work of art. I am simply trying to remind myself of what a work of art should possess.

Below are a few photographs that I feel like I forgot about. They are special to me because they remind me of adventures I have lived through. I hope you enjoy them as well.

Later,
Your Pal AL
