This probably really pleases the manager but I expect to have an epic day in the studio. I’m drinking my first cup of coffee and thanking myself for doing all the prep work yesterday. My ink trays are clean and my pencils are sharpened. My old studio light started working again and my new studio lights arrived yesterday. I have a fresh bag of microns and Pitt brush pens. I also have an idea for a drawing that deserves to be monster size. One thing, is missing.
My order from Dick Blick has not been shipped yet but I guess don’t really need it today. By the time I ink this puppy it should have arrived, so I will wait patiently. TL wanted me to try these new paints and I’m eager to see what they can do. I also ordered some Durlar that accepts water media. I am thinking about doing more prints with Jack.
Every time I am around that guy he says something that is almost Guston-esque. Jack actually just finished the first print we are going to work on together and I can’t wait to see it. He already has expressed that it looks very much like my drawings and that I should get a experimental with these things. For sure I know he is picking my brain and finding ways to tinker with my process but I will allow it. Something new and great for the work could happen. He and Beth obviously graduated from the same school of mental tactics. I’ve been training for this for a few years. Now it is time to get to work.
I’m expecting some people to call that couldn’t get a hold of me while I was sick. I’m feeling about 89 % and a little behind on studio work. Most likely I have a few minutes to spare. Most likely some energetic jazz will be playing while I work. Ringing cell phones may just sound like another creative solo blasting out a brass horn. Am I getting excuses ready?
Later,
Your Pal AL
